don’t think she was saying that we are solely to blame, but that we are a contributing factor in that if no one was using the drugs, there would be no profit in them. I think this country must reconsider it’s draconian drug laws. Marijuana should be legalized for sure and many other drugs should be de-criminalized. Also, many of the automatic and semi-automatic weapons used by the cartels are smuggled into mexico from the united states. this is a terrible problem due to violence and deaths and something that must be addressed from both nations.
also-interesting aside- for the first time in america there are more whites incarcerated for drugs and drug related crimes than blacks.
Nancy Pelosi is an idiot. When she characterized those who attended Wednesday’s tea parties as “rich whiners,” she violated her oath to “protect and defend the Constitution….” Making such a negative comment about people who are engaging in an activity that is expressly approved by the Constitution shows how little regard she has for the document.
That said, we should can the so-called War on Drugs, which has been a total waste, and direct our resources to education and treatment programs. We need to go to the demand side of the drug problem. We will never solve the drug problem entirely, but we should be able to reduce the demand substantially through education.

Without America’s voracious appetite for narcotics, the cartels wouldn’t exist. Anything anyone says that contradicts this simple fact is a lie. Sorry. This isn’t “bashing America,” it’s just the truth. I notice the people who disagree with Pelosi do so by attacking her personally. They can’t actually explain why what she said was wrong, except to call it “bashing.” That’s not an argument. It’s not anything.
Not a fan of Nancy or Hillary, but they aren’t lying this time. Many have said that America shares blame. The head of Mexico just said it on 20/20 Friday. And I’ve heard other politicians say it. It’s true, and truth hurts a lot of people . NO demand = NO supply. It’s that simple. Go back to Business Management 101. Or maybe you didn’t take that in school or you failed it. Americans are demanding it, and Mexico is supplying it. It’s a win win situation although it can be a very dead dead situation too. And probably most of those here who are so mad at people speaking this truth are drug users who get their drugs from Mexico.Now wouldn’t that be ironic. The Micky D issues have been addressed. They use trans fat free oils now. Now it’s up to the obese Limbaughs of the country to STOP stuffing their faces so darn much! One thing that you can’t blame on Obama, is that he’s fat. That man is in top shape! He believes as I do in physical fitness.
Everything is our fault, haven’t you noticed what a weak and apologetic President we have? He will say “I am sorry” for anything.
On the other hand if Americans quit doing so many drugs they will clean and sober up. Clean and sober people are way to smart to vote democrat.
I think of when I was young, and scared not to try drugs for fear of being jumped.
I think of brutal things that have happened, sick demented, and ruthless things that have occurred. Nightmares.

I think of how overly idealistic people, and people who have never experienced living in poor, and gang infested areas are clueless to how the dope game is played at ground level.
